One Down-One to Go

Yesterday I went to one of my daughters Showers for her bridal showers being held. They are having two, due to location. Next week it will be held in OC.
It was at her best-friends, also Maid of Honor's, house. It was a lovely home and full of the Lords presents.
The atmosphere was serene over all.
Seemed like everyone was in good spirits and although some forgot thing's, everything was covered.
I even had to back track to get what I was to bring, Rice Crispy Bars.
Okay, I was riding with the so to be bride and groom and we had to go back but we were still pretty much on time. Good traffic and a Great driver, with a 'no worries', attitude.
The Lord even had the air cleaned durning the week with a good rain shower, and then nice morning weather. By noon though we needed to move the party to the inside to keep everyone cool.
Just a pre-trial for the weather in November. We must pray for Great weather then as well.
We built houses out of graham crackers, and some were very cute and clean, and then there was ours. We had a bad pallet of graham crackers and well, we did what we had to with what we had. (The story of my life, Make do with what you have and make the best of it, if possible make it better.)
Hey, we got a point for creativity- YEAH.
We played bingo and I did win something, like wow. I won .....
Anyway, they received some great items that they wanted and that was good. But I had to see the ahh ha moment and I believe I caught it. I was glad to see it too. It was on what I had given her.
We all had good sandwich and salad eats, and the bars were a nice treat, aside the cake. (Costco cake- always good).

Being Outside

I am one of those people who does well being outside. I feel better when I get a bit of sunshine splashed in my face and on my skin.
I love the warmth of the sun.
I enjoy what it will do for my inner spirit, my soul.
I love the color my skin gets when it has enough to make it glow. I just really ENJOY being outside.
This week while taking breaks outside during school, I spotted a lovely creature.
I have not seen one of these around here before. I thought it would come and sit beside me, it came so close.
It was taking sips from the California Fuchsia, and the Lavender that dwells in our lands here. It was basking in the warmth of the sun and taking in the sweet scents of the garden.
I was right there with it in it's setting. I wanted to fly right along side it and bask in it's beauty. I was really enjoying being out side. And then break was over. bummer...
But then a day or two later while enjoying the evening air and watering , there it appeared again. I was in ahhhh.
I wonder if it might be a Gulf Fritillary.

I sent my grand-daughter to get the camera and we managed to capture a few shots. Not perfect but at least we can see it again when it is not around us, while being outside.

As a side note of what I wrote in my books page. You could check it out from time to time. I do try to update it.
I have finished another one of Francine Rivers books, "The Scarlet Thread".
Could not put it down or it wouldn't put me down , one might say. Since I read at night to help me unwind and relax enough to fall asleep. It was interesting and an easy read. I enjoyed it.
If you can take time each day to read for ten minutes you will be amazed at how much you will get out of what you pick up.
To think that I didn't read anything before and now I don't go a day with out my morning reads and then my evening time in the books and now during school I have my star student reading at least a hour a day. She doesn't know it though. We read bible in the first half hour of the school day and then a half hour of Read Aloud. Then she reads for a half hour at the close of the school day, and then if she sleeps over we read when we go to bed. LOVE IT! Whatever works.

Go Green Challenge

This quilt was a winner in a quilt guild challenge. I love it!
I purposed a challenge to the members of the guild to go into their stash and find something that they loved and use it.The challenge was to make a traditional nine-patch with an alternating block pattern.
Mine was a hour class with the nine patch.
The quilt took about three months to make and I didn't waste time. I enjoyed every minute of this because every block of nine patches was like a new quilt in the making. It has over 48 different colors in those nine patches.
It is about 104" square and  I wish it was bigger. But like I said, "I LOVE IT" !

on Friday until Sunday at midnight.
There is another contest at Quilt Gallery,
and I would love for you to get involved and vote, or enter your own.
What have we got to loose, besides not winning.  hahaha

September

This is a month that has a lot of memories in it for me as well as for a lot of other folk around the world. This month should be one this nation will never forget. A memory that this country should always remember as the time when we were at war in our own land.
Oh yeah, this month I have lots of memories. My grand-father was born this month, and my daughter shares his birthday. My youngest daughter was conceived in this month. I found out I was going to be a grandmother durning this month. My anniversary is recorded this month although it took place in Israel in November. As I already mentioned, The Twin Towers were taken down by terrorists. And as of yesterday, I have met wonderful people. They will be my daughters in-laws. I am happy for her and them and him and oh everything about it all.
And this is the month we go back to school which we did last week.
Hope you all have great memories to go back to.

Summer Over and a New Beginning

We did it. We started a new year and we are in the third grade.
I can't wait to see how and when the lights will come on (in the little mind).
A few minutes late but pretty much ready to go, we were in to full swing.
Things will go a little different this year than last. I learned a few things last year.
This year we will not only earn points for special things, but we can we can loose them as well. OUCH..
But the concept is an awaking to 'effort pays'.
I was new to all of it last year and drew different ideas from different folks. I am applying what I think may help us this year. I am still open to ideas, but we have begun and the ground rules are on the table. Which can change at the discretion of the teacher, who happens to be me. Not that I will change things unless forced to do so.

The Fly..

Have you ever wished you were the fly on the wall? They have Big Eyes and see all around.
Well I have said that but really would have preferred to a butterfly. But I don't think butterflies come and land on walls.
Oh well, I just would like to be places where when some one gets something I make for them to see there reaction. I have made some wallets this summer and here is one more that I won't be there when they get it.
Some have let me know that they like them or think they are cute or ,  it WOW's them. But sometimes I would just like to see the facial expression when they first see it.

Anyway, need to get back to work. I have at least one more to put together.
