Pineapple Star SOLD

I had never paper pieced before and had the opportunity to be taught by a friend of mine. She took the time to teach about six of us and we had a great time. It was a truly a learning experience and one I realized I was not able to repeat. I hated throwing so much fabric away that was to small to be used else where. I loved the quilt though and so did another friend of mine who then bought it from me.
I am so glad to have been able to learn this technique even so.

The quilting was done by my sister, Donna Heppler.

Amy's Creativeside is having another quilt festival.

Today...

There have been many years that have come and gone, and still sometimes it feels just like yesterday.
He was here and then not, and yet his face is so clear to me. I can still smell him and hear him telling me he loves me. Time never stops and we can not ever get it back once it ticks by, but what remains  is the images   that we hold on to. Today marks another year and yet the pain is so close to my heart of him being taken like a victim from this place we call earth. I say that cause it is only a holding cell before we go home. Home to be with the Lord and those whom He has already called, home.
Daddy, I miss you and always will.
Here is a photo that was taken by my sister, called, "Daddy's Sunrise".

October

This is always a very hard month for me to get through and out of 33 years I think I have made it through one with out noticing it. I have been pretty busy this month as well, but it has not escaped me.
I need to stay busy so as not to get caught up in the down side of this time of year.
So today I made an apron that I would like to sell, but I need to get it on our Etsy site for that to happen and I need my daughter to do that. That is her job.I don't celebrate halloween but we seen this fabric and just had to purchase it for this purpose. And it gave me something to do besides chores.
I hope you like it and it will sell before it is to late.

OC Shower

Finally the showers are done and the surprise's are revealed.
I had to whip a quilt together and have it done to present to the bride and groom.
It was not easy , but the good Lord kept them away by having them be busy and they never seen it coming.
The Maid of Honor, and one of the Brides Maids
beautiful brides in their finest
I didn't even get a shot of it until the event.
Dad and Brother were great sports
I'll have to get them to take one and send it to me. But again, it was great and ever so slightly,  the aaah ha moment. I didn't get the shot though. Being at night and outside, caused the camera to delay.
But I think it stunned the crowd. I love how the Lord uses my hands to create times like that.
They received so many nice things, and were happy too.
But the best was the bride game.
We had to make our player wear a brides dress, using toilet tissue.
It was a hoot. I am still laughing.

The food was great, the company was fun and we made it home in one piece.
Blooming Busy Sunflowers
The Lord knew we needed to, cause all those who really cared about Punkin were in the car, and she was not.( She was at daddy's- it's was the weekend).
All to Him and for His glory. I just love the LORD, and am glad He love's me.
Now I pray that the next big event is all guided by HIS Hands. (The purchasing of the home.)

One Down-One to Go

Yesterday I went to one of my daughters Showers for her bridal showers being held. They are having two, due to location. Next week it will be held in OC.
It was at her best-friends, also Maid of Honor's, house. It was a lovely home and full of the Lords presents.
The atmosphere was serene over all.
Seemed like everyone was in good spirits and although some forgot thing's, everything was covered.
I even had to back track to get what I was to bring, Rice Crispy Bars.
Okay, I was riding with the so to be bride and groom and we had to go back but we were still pretty much on time. Good traffic and a Great driver, with a 'no worries', attitude.
The Lord even had the air cleaned durning the week with a good rain shower, and then nice morning weather. By noon though we needed to move the party to the inside to keep everyone cool.
Just a pre-trial for the weather in November. We must pray for Great weather then as well.
We built houses out of graham crackers, and some were very cute and clean, and then there was ours. We had a bad pallet of graham crackers and well, we did what we had to with what we had. (The story of my life, Make do with what you have and make the best of it, if possible make it better.)
Hey, we got a point for creativity- YEAH.
We played bingo and I did win something, like wow. I won .....
Anyway, they received some great items that they wanted and that was good. But I had to see the ahh ha moment and I believe I caught it. I was glad to see it too. It was on what I had given her.
We all had good sandwich and salad eats, and the bars were a nice treat, aside the cake. (Costco cake- always good).

Being Outside

I am one of those people who does well being outside. I feel better when I get a bit of sunshine splashed in my face and on my skin.
I love the warmth of the sun.
I enjoy what it will do for my inner spirit, my soul.
I love the color my skin gets when it has enough to make it glow. I just really ENJOY being outside.
This week while taking breaks outside during school, I spotted a lovely creature.
I have not seen one of these around here before. I thought it would come and sit beside me, it came so close.
It was taking sips from the California Fuchsia, and the Lavender that dwells in our lands here. It was basking in the warmth of the sun and taking in the sweet scents of the garden.
I was right there with it in it's setting. I wanted to fly right along side it and bask in it's beauty. I was really enjoying being out side. And then break was over. bummer...
But then a day or two later while enjoying the evening air and watering , there it appeared again. I was in ahhhh.
I wonder if it might be a Gulf Fritillary.

I sent my grand-daughter to get the camera and we managed to capture a few shots. Not perfect but at least we can see it again when it is not around us, while being outside.

As a side note of what I wrote in my books page. You could check it out from time to time. I do try to update it.
I have finished another one of Francine Rivers books, "The Scarlet Thread".
Could not put it down or it wouldn't put me down , one might say. Since I read at night to help me unwind and relax enough to fall asleep. It was interesting and an easy read. I enjoyed it.
If you can take time each day to read for ten minutes you will be amazed at how much you will get out of what you pick up.
To think that I didn't read anything before and now I don't go a day with out my morning reads and then my evening time in the books and now during school I have my star student reading at least a hour a day. She doesn't know it though. We read bible in the first half hour of the school day and then a half hour of Read Aloud. Then she reads for a half hour at the close of the school day, and then if she sleeps over we read when we go to bed. LOVE IT! Whatever works.
