A&W= Apron Weekend

I was busy sewing aprons this weekend.
We got a few special orders for aprons last week and well I am the one who makes them.
SEW,  I got to make them..
I think if they were not sold I would keep them.
I wear one almost all the time. I love them, they keep my clothes from getting stained. Plus I always have something to wipe my hands on, instead of my clothes.
Check them out. These are all that I have made so  far...
No not all of them this weekend. I made three of them.

Summer Sewing Busy-ness

Everything Bag

This month has been busy.....
I have had more going on this month than ever expected.
My son drove in from out of state to visit with me. He brought his family and I was in heaven for a few days.
This is the first visit that I was not totally nervous over. I usually break out and get flustered before hand, but not this time. It was so of the Lord. I knew he was coming and I just asked the Good Lord to take control of it all and He did. We had a great time.
my grand children
On top of that, I had all my children with me. It was not my birthday or Mother's Day. No one died or got married and it wasn't planned.  It just happened and I loved it.
We had a quiet fourth and we enjoyed that.
my children
My grand-daughter was with her daddy so we just relaxed.
My son turned 30 this month, wow does that make me think....

My youngest will be 25 next Friday, and yes I am still thinking....

On top of all this I have been making aprons and wallets and bags of all sizes. And Really, Enjoying it. I was hoping to make some money, but just being able to sew has released some energy that has been bottled up for awhile. I love to sew and we are selling some, but until we can be ahead of the cost, we just keep sewing for the purpose. (see  http://hopenmotion.blogspot.com/  ).

I was able to do some canning yesterday for the first time this season. I got three quarts and one pint of stewed tomatoes. I have some in the freezer and I have eaten many already. Crop is good this year. Even after the beginning struggles, we are getting some produce that is very delightful to the taste buds, yummy.
And having my husband around every day is not to bad. The honey do list is getting taken care of even as we add to it daily. Did I mention he went to Joplin to help out in the tornado relief efforts? The Lord just keeps growing him and I love him more every day. -both the LORD and my husband-

Well with this update that is long over due, I have some more sewing to do. I have orders for more bags and aprons...

Quilter's Wallet Treat

The time has come to prepare for our up coming quilting retreat.
I am able to go because of a very sweet friend of mine. I  have been sponsered and I have made a gift for her as a a THANK YOU !!!
The wallet is Pat-e-Pattern Designs, and kit. It is a great way to show someone they are special. My friend loves purple and so I made it in her favorite color.
I carry one myself and have made many others over the last few years.
The wallet takes three fat quarters to make it. The kit that you can purchase as well from the company makes it super to put together. It is not really a beginner project, but it could be if one really likes it and sews slow. The pattern is super easy to follow and has great pics to help you as you go. Some of us do better with visual. This pattern has it.
Hope you like what I have made, and maybe you will be inspired to make one too.Three fat quarters is all it takes.

Therapy in Session

I know that it has been sometime since I last blogged, but I have been SEWING....
I have been sewing bags of various sizes and styles. Plus I have made a few aprons and Petite wallets, all so I could send them out for sale.
My daughter and I have been focusing on bags for World Racers in the mission field. The racers cover up to eleven countries in eleven months. This month they have a training camp being held and we have a great bag that goes over the shoulder and across the body. Back in the day we called them HOBO bags. Today my daughter calls it the 'Over the Shoulder bag'. We also have made what she had titled ' The Everything Bag'. It is like a large beach bag. And we have made the same style in smaller sizes.
If you can, check out hopenmotion.com and brows the different pages.
We have sold a few already before they were shipped out. That is exciting to us.
I also made some aprons and wallets to send to my sister who is holding a flee market spot in her town and we will see how that pans out. I am just really happy to be sewing this summer. I was not able to do much this last winter due to homeschooling, but hey, therapy is in progress.

I have been eating many things from the garden as well. Things like, zucchini, crooked neck(yellow) squash. Green and purple bell peppers and Fresno chilies. Jalapeno's and onions in salsa's and omelets.
We finally got our first tomato two days ago and there are many more to come. With eighteen tomato plants you would think so .....
Cucumber's are good and I had been making zucchini bread and putting it in the freezer, until this week when the temperature's are so high who can even think of turning the oven on, not me.

It Is Finished

I just want to say, that this first year of homeschooling is finished. We made it and she wants to do it again next year. YEAH! That to me means I didn't destroy her hope and trust in gamma. I am so glad to finish and she / we finished well. I am so proud of us, we really learned a lot.
I was asked what I learned and I came up with a couple of things.
#1-  Multiply by fives using the clock. I know how to multiply, but it came to me early on this year, that if you can tell time and remember the minutes, than when you need to multiply by fives, think of the numbers on the clock and well I was like, NEW. Anyway, my star student got it, Yeah....
Okay.
#2- I expect to much.
#3- Everyone has a different pace of doing things and I need more patience.
#4- Patience and that I need more.
#5- How to pollinate corn.
#6- How to compost.
But one thing that I knew and was confirmed with is that I love being with my grand-daughter and teaching her what I believe is important to know. I just love that child and love being around her.
